WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

Getting the vaccine is easy, but if you don’t like surprises, here’s a rundown on the whole process.

Make an appointment with a GP or nurse today (any medical clinic will do - it doesn't have to be your family clinic).

Ideally, ask for the HPV vaccine when you make your appointment.

After your shot you will be asked to hang around for 15 minutes – this is done for any injection you get at the doctors, it’s just to make sure you do not have a reaction of any kind.

If you are aged 15 years or older, you will need two more shots - the second dose is usually 2 months after the first shot, and the third dose is usually 6 months after the first shot.

Many medical clinics offer a text reminder service to remind you when your next one is due. If not, the doctor or nurse will give you dates for your diary.
